Medway Labour and local residents had a visit from Labour leadership contender David Miliband today. David met residents on Rochester Highstreet after arriving at Rochester station, he met a number of voters whilst walking down Rochester Highstreet. He spoke with a number of parents about their concerns around education, before hosting a meeting in the Visitor Centre where he spoke to both Labour and non-Labour constituents.

In 2001, Labour went into the General Election with a manifesto pledge to give Parliament a free vote on the issue of fox hunting. In 2004 we delivered on that pledge. The ban on hunting with dogs came into force in February 2005, following the eventual passage of the Hunting Act 2004 through Parliament.

The Tory London mayor, Boris Johnson, has called for a new airport in North Kent concuding that Heathrow was 'a planning error.' Writing in the Sunday Times he cited a requirement for a massive airport hub. Labour is leading the call against the plans and the destruction of homes and habitat.
